Old Sammy and Miss Blondie
Judy Farrar

In memory of Sam.

I have always had a love of horses. As a child I was always a cowgirl or a horse. 12 years ago my grandson Ethan was born and as he grew he became very interested in horses. In the meantime, I became acquainted with Colleen Smith at the nursing home. Colleen leased a horse and then became a horse owner. Thanks to her, I was introduced to The Healing Barn and the wonderful lady that owns the barn.

I took Ethan out to the barn and to his delight, that wonderful lady named Nancy gave him his first riding lessons on a horse named Mac. Ethan and I loved going out to the barn. The atmosphere was relaxed and being around Nancy and her family, Allen and Corri, and all the horses, donkeys, and cats was great fun.

It was spring time about 5 years ago when Nancy called me and asked me if I would interested in owning a horse. Someone she knew was going to get rid of an older gelding and he needed a home. We jumped on the chance and became the owners of a wonderful horse named Sam. We were very fortunate to know Sam and become a real part of The Healing Barn.

We never had to worry about his care because we knew he was in such good hands with Nancy and her family. Besides being wonderful with the horses, Nancy is also most comforting to those she comes in contact with. Everyone that boards at Nancy's loves her and I know the kids do as well. Besides Ethan, his brother Jack and sister Emma now come to the barn. We all rode and loved Sam. Recently Sam past away and we were all very sad and will all miss him greatly.

Nancy was very comforting during that time to us all. We soon became horse owners again thanks to Nancy. The Healing Barn has become such a big part of our lives that we would truly miss being around everyone. We hope to have some good years with our Blondie and will never forget our good friend Nancy, whom we also hope to have many more years knowing and being around. I forgot to mention that besides Nancy's full time job at home with the horses she also holds a full time position as a nurse. They are lucky to have her. Still Nancy's never too busy to provide some TLC to either the horses or any of us that may need a shoulder.

Thanks Nancy!

Love, Judy-Ethan and Jack
