If you have ever considered helping save horses, this is the time to stand up and speak out. The condition of the current economy is causing record numbers of Horse Rescue Facilities to turn away horses and close their doors. Many of these facilities have been active for years, but can no longer afford to help in the present economy.
The Healing Barn is a 501c3 non-profit Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation Facility providing help to suffering animals in need every single day! Your contribution means a great deal to the organization, but even more to the animals who rely on the team at The Healing Barn to help them through some of the most difficult times of their lives.
Some horse rescue facilities are having to consider putting some of the older horses down in hopes that they will be able to continue financially supporting the other rescues they currently own. This is a decision no one should have to make, especially someone who has given so much of themselves to save these animals. I for one can no longer stand by and watch these proud people lose everything they have because they are trying to do what is right and stand up for the animals.

Horses like George (pictured below) could not receive the rehabilitation and care required for survival without the generous contributions from people like you.
George, like so many other horses at The Healing Barn, have been neglected, mistreated or abused for far too long, often left for dead or to be put to death. In George's case, he had been kept in a stall as a young horse, but his owners did not have the proper knowledge or seek help for the care for George. He was neglected for a very long time, (see left image), long enough to allow a yearling halter to grow into his nose.
George has since healed, (see right image) thanks to the care of The Healing Barn and Sponsor A Horse, he continues to live a happy and healthy life.
Sadly, George's story is just one of hundreds that we could share with you.
The Healing Barn & SponsorAHorse.org are often called upon by the local Humane Society to rescue neglected and/or abused animals. Below is a video from a local television station that was providing media coverage on one such occasion in which The Healing Barn was called in to assist in the confiscation of five horses that were not being fed.
