Who We Are

All About Us!

We (Allen, Nancy, and Corri) started The Healing Barn about 12 years ago. We had a three stall barn and 3 acres of turn out. The intention was to get one horse for Corri, whom at the time was 11 years old. Immediately someone called and said, "I have a horse that needs be ridden. He is 4 years old and green broke. He is free, BUT you also have to take his 32 year old mother. At almost the same time the horse we had been looking at (safe, quiet, broke, etc.) came up for sale. So now instead of one horse we now had 3 horses.

See how easily 1 turn into 3, now 3 has turned into 13. Over the years we have accumulated more horses that are unwanted, neglected, and abused. We have decided to start Sponsor A Horse because it is time to try and do more than help horses only in our area. We are three very normal down to earth people that want to help our equine friends in need.

We have come up with what we would like to accomplish through this website:

Our mission at SponsorAHorse.org is to be the advocate for abused, neglected, and unwanted horses. Our focus is to rehabilitate these animals to improve their physical, mental, nutritional, and behavioral health. Our goal is to help create a better future for our equine friends by continuing to educate people on existing issues like over breeding, slaughter, and what the horses need in order to survive. Our vision is to create a national network of equine rescuing facilities that work together to improve the lives of horses while continuing to educate people on the issues at hand. Showing people that there are other options for them and their horses other than killer sales. We believe SponsorAHorse.org can help create a more united and better funded network of horse rescues that will ultimately overcome present issues facing horses and horse owners in the United States today.
