A Great German Shepard
From time to time a dog comes our way that needs a lot of help. Of course the Vets have treated them and done all they could do. Most of the time the owners are not ready to give up. The challenge then comes our way. This is a story about a great German Shepard. For what ever reason, he could not control his back end and could not walk. It was pitiful, his owner loved him so, and was not ready to let go. He came to meet me on a cool Sunday afternoon. He was very touchy and not happy to see me, so I took it slow with him and I could tell he was in horrible pain all over his body. You say, how did I know this? . . . keep reading

"The Horse Garbage Disposal"
This is the story of rebel: We met Rebel when he was 4 years old, living on a farm where he lived with his mom. Mom being 30-32 years old, was all rebel knew. There wasn't even a house on the property. But there were neighbors! Oh yes the neighbors, they loved rebel! On Christmas day you would see them with there Santa hats on, dumping left overs over the fence for rebel to eat. Potatoes, turkey, stuffing, you name it, he got it. And yes, Rebel would run as fast as he could to eat those goodies. He would eat every last bit. Rebel didn't save or share any with his mother either. When we met Rebel, he was about 500 pounds over weight, I can't imagine why, can you? The main meal at the barn was ears of corn, grass, hay, and the occasional turkey dinner. . . . keep reading

The Healing Barn
Hello, I'm Nancy from THE HEALING BARN, I have a lot of great stories to tell you. Little Bit is just a tiny portion of the animals we have helped over the years. We (Allen, Nancy, and Corri) started The Healing Barn about 12 years ago. We had a three stall barn and 3 acres of turn out. The intention was to get one horse for Corri, whom at the time was 11 years old. Immediately someone called and said, "I have a horse that needs be ridden. He is 4 years old and green broke. He is free, BUT... . . . keep reading

The BOSS
My name is Little Bit and I am the BIG BOSS at The Healing Barn! I am 16 hands tall and registered as a stock paint horse. I do not have markings of a paint like my girlfriend Fancy, but my body looks like some one took a white paint brush and splattered it on my copper colored hair. When I first came to The Healing Barn, I was falling down and I was very sick. I had what they call EPM. All I know is it was not fun to have no control over my rear end. I would try to run and my butt would fall down. It made me feel really stupid. . . . keep reading

Dreams and Hopes
Did you ever have that want or dream of having your own horse? You were 5 years old and you could not make your parents understand that nothing in this world was greater than having your own horse in your own backyard. I was one of those little girls that dreamed of one day having my own horse I could ride through the woods and we would have lunch together under a big apple tree. I would eat jelly sandwiches and my friend, my horse, would eat grass and apples. We would sit there for hours and hours until I... . . . keep reading
